Wooden Avent Christmas House

A fun project to build, and a family heirloom for years to come. Place little treats and treasures in the wooden draws for the children to find and delight over. Take a look at more of the wonderful designs by Faith Pocock

Let’s start this fabulous project, I found the easiest way for accenting the draws was to use dark green ink to colour the wooden draws. Colour both the sides inside and out. The ink is also translucent enough to reveal the numbers underneath so we can paint them later.

I next inked the wooden pictorial and left the smoke and clouds free. The ink I used was not permanent so gave some cool effects when I started to paint the panel.

I used these products to have fun with painting the panel. The Viva paints are highly textured and help create a 3D look. I used Grit paste for the snow, trees, and roof of the house. I lightly glittered the snow when it was still wet. As you can see the ink lightly tints the snow-covered areas.

I used some trees that I cut in half to give more of a 3 D effect. Continue to complete the rest of the panels.

I used a deep purple for the panels that the wooden boxes fit in.

A deep red, textured for the wooden boxes frame.

I used cream Viva effects for the bricks, this medium gave a cool textured brick look for the bricks that go around the house.

I used the Viva Decor again for the house.

I used graphite paste for the roof.

I used Grit paste on the roof and windows to garnish with a snow look.

Start putting it all together with the baseboards and I again used grit paste for the snow around the house. Start decorating the fence, trees, lamps, and seat.

The inside of the boxes was painted gold and I used a very fine paintbrush and a steady hand to go over the numbers on the box. Then added little brass handles for each box.

Start placing everything together, here is a look at the trees with a slight tint showing through.

I added G45 Carolers and little embellishments to add depth add interest. I also added some tiny lights around the circumference.

Thank you for viewing my project.
